CHEAP TRICK: A Gathering Round the Flame

Earlier this week there was an impromptu gathering of musicians on a London street.

Musicians on tour with Phil Collins, Jackson Browne, Blondie, Elton John and Kool and the Gang were staying at the Royal Garden Hotel on Kensington High Street when a small fire broke out in the hotel kitchen.

The hotel was evacuated, sending everyone into the street. Who should walk by but Cheap Trick's father and son duo of Rick and Daxx Nielsen, who were returning from dinner.

Kim Bullard, the keyboardist in Elton's band, posted photos and wrote, "If you are in London, I guess it's not weird at all [to see all these musicians together]... And the weirdest thing is, we all know each other. It was like a high school reunion."

Cheap Trick wrapped up a brief UK tour tonight (Thursday) in Bristol.

Phil Collins performs in London's Hyde Park tomorrow (Friday) with Blondie and Mike & The Mechanics opening.
