Thieves Try and Steal Power Pole

Hurricane Irma has left Florida with a big mess to clean up, and while disasters often bring out the best in people, they also bring out the worst.

Looters and thieves have been trying to steal whatever they can, and that includes a utility pole. Police in Jacksonville spotted a car driving with a large metal utility pole strapped to the roof. Since it was obvious the shirtless driver didn't work for the Jacksonville Electric Authority, the officer pulled the car over and arrested thim and his shirtless accomplice.

Police believe the pole was likely blown down by Irma and the guys tried to run off with it. They told cops they were doing a public service because the pole was found near the street and they were just trying to move it to a safer location. They can try to explain that to the judge.
