Quick-Thinking 11-Year-Old Saves Train

The quick thinking and fast action of an 11-year-old boy may have prevented a serious train crash.

After a thunderstorm in Haverhill, Massachusetts, sixth grader Jesse DiChiara saw a tree had fallen onto the tracks near a train station. He immediately hopped on his bike and rode as fast as he could to his grandfather's home. From there, the two of them got in the car and drove back. They found a railroad employee, who was able to tell the conductor of the train to stop until the tracks were clear.

Jesse was extra happy to be able to help because he loves trains and often goes to the train station after school just to watch them pass.

This time, his passion led him to ensuring that the many people on those trains remained safe. (WBZ-TV)
