Joe Walsh: Gold Star Family Member

Joe Walsh Vets Aid

Joe Walsh held his second annual VetsAid concert Sunday night at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Washington.

The show raised over $1.2-million dollars to support veterans and their families. The 18,000 on hand were treated to performances by Joe, Don Henley, James Taylor, Chris Stapleton, Haim and Joe's brother-in-law, Ringo Starr. Joe's longtime friend, Drew Carey, served as MC.

“I can’t believe everybody showed up!” joked Walsh. “This issue, veterans and their families, is resonant to me because I am a gold star family member, I lost my dad in active duty when I was 20 months old. I also want to bring attention to a forgotten war, we are at war, and our soldiers are coming back shattered and need our support. We shouldn’t see vets standing by the side of a road holding up a cardboard sign for food and shelter. Tonight we raised money to help change that.”

Joe joined James Taylor on “Streamroller” and Don Henley for “Life in the Fast Lane” and “Hotel California.”

Ringo came out for the finale, leading the company through “With a Little Help from My Friends.”
