QUEEN: Def Leppard Rumor

Earlier this month, Joe Elliott told us he knows who will induct Def Leppard into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next month, but was not at liberty to say who.

We speculated that it could be Brian May of Queen, a band that heavily influenced Def Leppard. The group is also friends with May.

Since then, guitarist Vivian Campbell hinted that we could be right. Reading between the lines of what guitarist Phil Collen recently said, it's looking like a good bet.

Phil Collen speculates on who would be a good choice to induct Def Leppard into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 29th in Brooklyn, New York:

'We've always been influenced by Queen. They were a blueprint. You know, we tried to be like a rockier version -- add some AC/DC into the Queen thing. So, you know, Brian May from Queen would be great and it's really great that this movie, Bohemian Rhapsody, came out, you know. So yeah, they were a huge influence on our career, you know. A lot of people that we'd of love that are not around anymore, but yeah, that would be great."

The Rock Hall will name the speakers before the March 29th ceremony at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Joining Def Leppard in the Class of 2019 are The Zombies, Roxy Music, Stevie Nicks, Janet Jackson,The Cure and Radiohead.
