A federal appeals court in Cincinnati ruled Tuesday that Steve Winwood did not steal the bass riff used on “Gimme Some Lovin’” in 1966 when he was in TheSpencer Davis Group.
Willa Dean Parker and Homer Banks wrote “Ain’t That a Lot of Love” in 1965, and Parker and Homer's wife sued Winwood for copyright infringement in 2017, alleging the bass line was lifted from Parker.
However, the court ruled that the evidence of the alleged copyright infringement wasn’t admissible because it was hearsay.
