2019 What's in Store and What Happened Before

Here’s a look at what to expect in 2019 as well as some major anniversaries:

Touring:

25th anniversary -- 1994:

February 11th – Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr reunited to work on John Lennon's demos of "Free as a Bird” and “Real Love” for The Beatles Anthology

March 1st - Nirvana played their final concert, in Munich, Germany.

March 30th – Pink Floyd kicked off what turns out to be their last tour – in Miami.

April 8th – Kurt Cobain was found dead in his Seattle-area home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

May 6th - Pearl Jam filed a complaint against Ticketmaster with the U.S. Justice Department charging that the company has a monopoly on the concert ticket business.

May 27th – The Eagles launched their Hell Freezes Over tour in Burbank, California – their first since 1980.

June 27th – Aerosmith became the first major act to premiere a song on the Internet. Over 10,000 CompuServe subscribers downloaded "Head First" within its first eight days of availability.

August 11th — Sting's Ten Summoner's Tales became the first item securely purchased over the internet; the CD sells for $12.48 plus shipping and handling.

August 12th –14th – Woodstock '94 was held in Saugerties, New York. Among those on the bill are Aerosmith, Bob Dylan, Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Band, Traffic and Peter Gabriel.

November 20th – David Crosby underwent a seven-hour liver transplant operation in Los Angeles. It was paid for by Phil Collins.

July 23rd – Ringo Starr formed his first All-Starr Band with future brother-in-law Joe Walsh, Clarence Clemons, Nils Lofgren, Dr. John, Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Jim Keltner and Billy Preston

August 31st - The Rolling Stones kicked off their Steel Wheels tour at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia

50th anniversary -- 1969:

January 14 – Dave Grohl is born

January 18 – Pete Best won his defamation lawsuit against The Beatles. Best had originally sought $8 million, but ended up being awarded much less.

January 30th – The Beatles performed for the last time in public, on the roof of the Apple building at 3 Savile Row, London. The performance, which was filmed for the Let It Be movie, is stopped early by police after neighbors complain about the noise.

February 3rd - Eric Burdon & The Animals broke up

February 3rd - John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr hired Allen Klein as The Beatles' new business manager, against the wishes of Paul McCartney. The next day, McCartney hired the law firm of Eastman & Eastman, Linda Eastman's father's law firm, as general legal counsel for Apple Records.

March 1st – During a performance at Miami's Dinner Key Auditorium, Jim Morrison of The Doors is arrested for allegedly exposing himself during the show. Morrison is officially charged with lewd and lascivious behavior, indecent behavior, open profanity and public drunkenness.

March 12th - Paul McCartney married Linda Eastman in London while George Harrison and his wife Pattie are arrested at their home on charges of drug possession

March 20th – John Lennon married Yoko Ono in Gibraltar (near Spain)

March 25th-31st – John Lennon and Yoko Ono hosted a "Bed-In" for peace in their room at the Amsterdam Hilton, turning their honeymoon into an anti-war event. Their second "Bed-In" was held on June 2nd in Montreal.

June 9th - Brian Jones split from The Rolling Stones. On June 13th Mick Taylor was hired as his replacement.

July 3rd – Brian Jones was found dead in the swimming pool at his home in Sussex, England, almost a month after leaving the Stones. On July 5th, the band proceeds with a free concert in Hyde Park, London as a tribute to Jones. It is also their first concert with Mick Taylor.

August 15th-17th – The Woodstock Music and Art Festival was held at Max Yasgur's dairy farm in Bethel, New York. Performers include Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who, The Band, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Jefferson Airplane and Santana

December 6th - A concertgoer was killed by the Hell's Angels at a Rolling Stones concert in Altamont, California
