So much for Ritchie Blackmore just doing a few shows last year in Europe as Rainbow.
He's now working on some new songs for the band, telling Japan's Burrn! magazine, "I wrote one new song, and also recorded one of the old ones... Rather than make an album, we may release them as singles."
So why didn't he turn to former Rainbow members for this reunion? Singer Joe Lynn Turner, in particular, bellyached about not being asked. But Blackmore says, "The reason I did not ask Joe is because I thought European fans wanted to hear the Ronnie James Dio lineup of Rainbow."
The show Blackmore and his new hired hands played in Birmingham, England last year will be released as a two-CD set, Live in Birmingham 2016, on June 9th.
