Reissues of albums by The Grateful Dead, Arlo Guthrie, Vanilla Fudge and The Monkees have been announced as Rhino Records targets the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love.
Due July 11th:
- The Grateful Dead Smiling on a Cloudy Day assembles 10 songs from the band's early psychedelic period, including "Morning Dew," "China Cat Sunflower" and "St. Stephen."
- The Best of Peter, Paul and Mary: Ten Years Together is a vinyl-only release spotlighting folk-pop's top-selling trio of the '60s.
- Also on vinyl: The Association's Insight Out , The Young Rascals Groovin' and The Beau Brummels' Triangle.
Due July 18th:
- The Monkees' Summer of Love collects 12 tracks, including "Pleasant Valley Sunday," "Randy Scouse Git," "Words" and "Tapioca Tundra."
- On vinyl only: Arlo Guthrie's Alice's Restaurant (in mono), The Electric Prunes' debut album (in purple vinyl), Van Morrison's Astral Weeks (on clear vinyl ) and Vanilla Fudge's self-titled debut (on white vinyl).
- The LP-only compilation Gettin' Together: Groovy Sounds of the Summer of Love draws together such hits as "Hip Hug-Her" by Booker T. and The M.G.'s, "You Keep Me Hanging On" by Vanilla Fudge and "Windy" by The Association.
Due July 25th, only in vinyl:
- Dusty in Memphis by Dusty Springfield; Goodbye and Hello by Tim Buckley and the mono version of Aretha Arrives. Judy Collins' Wildflowers will be out on translucent yellow vinyl, while The Zodiac's Cosmic Sounds will be pressed on glow-in-the-dark vinyl.
- Transparent Days: West Coast Nuggets is a two-LP. 30-song collection with such lower-profile gems as The Peanut Butter Conspiracy's "Time Is After You," The Mojo Men's "She's My Baby" and Love's "Your Mind & We Belong Together."
