Back in 2009, U.S. Marine Jeff De Young was partnered with a bomb-sniffing Labrador named Cena. The two faced many challenges together and, thanks to Cena’s amazing ability to detect explosive devices, many lives were saved, including Jeff’s.
When Jeff was discharged from the military, Cena became his service dog, helping Jeff with healing and support for post-traumatic stress syndrome.
Sadly, Cena was recently diagnosed with bone cancer, so Jeff wants to make the most of their remaining time together by going on a joyride in Michigan together.
He’s arranging for a trip in a topless Jeep, where Cena can enjoy having his ears flop around in the breeze. Jeff also wants to make sure Cena gets to eat as much awesome food as he likes. He's also set up a GoFundMe page to help cover costs including "a statue or a beautiful head stone that he deserves." Cena will be buried at the Michigan War Dog Memorial. (Mashable)
