GRATEFUL DEAD: New Live Box Set

The Grateful Dead chose what would have been Jerry Garcia's 75th birthday (Tuesday) to announce the release of a new live box set.

Robert F. Kennedy Stadium, Washington, D.C., July 12 and 13, 1989 features two previously unreleased shows on six CDs and will be available exclusively at Dead.net, where you can pre-order it anytime before its November 10th release. The set will include extensive liner notes by Relix editor Dean Budnik. It will also be available as a digital download.

Deadheads who signed up for Tuesday's seventh annual Grateful Dead Meet-Up at the Movies are getting a special sneak preview as the July 12th RFK show is part of the program.

Earlier today, drummer Mickey Hart posted a greeting to the band's late guitarist on Facebook, writing, "Happy birthday, Jerry Garcia. You take us to beautifully intricate places. You're still in my ear."

Also in honor of Garcia's birthday, Pandora has created a channel featuring music from his entire career, as well as a special audio message from his daughter, Trixie.
