LYNYRD SKYNYRD: Van Zant Did Not Have a Heart Attack

Contrary to an earlier story, originally reported by KOTA in Rapid City, South Dakota, Lynyrd Skynyrd singer Johnny Van Zant did not suffer a heart attack.

The band's management stated that what happened was that guitarist Garry Rossington, the last surviving original member of the band, had an arterial blockage that was corrected by the insertion of stents on Friday. He has been ordered to rest, leading the band to cancel shows through Thursday.

The next Skynyrd performance is set for Friday in Virginia Beach.
