The longest bicycle road race in the world is nearing an end – and only three racers remain.
The Red Bull Trans-Siberian Extreme is an endurance test of 14 stages that cover 5,700 miles in Russia, from Moscow to Vladivostok, which is nearly on the border of China.
It’s such a long race that riders go through seven time zones, over pavement, cobblestone and gravel.
This year, eight men and two women started riding on July 18th – and seven dropped out one by one.
All that’s left are a German guy, a Russian guy and a Brazilian guy.
Yesterday, these three extreme athletes started the 14th and final stage and are expected to cross the finish line on August 14th. (New York Times)
