Joe Perry: The Calm Before Irma

Joe Perry is just one of the many artists with a home in Florida, which is where he was for Hurricane Irma.

He has a place in Sarasota, which is on the hard hit Gulf Coast, and wants to let everyone know he is "OK."

Perry posted video of an eerily quiet Sarasota before the storm hit.

Also posting footage on Facebook was Lynyrd Skynyrd singer Johnny Van Zant, who lives in the Jacksonville area. But unlike the quiet before the storm that Perry posted, Van Zant's is of the aftermath.

No word yet on how Cheap Trick's Robin Zander, The Moody Blues' Graeme Edge, or former AC/DC members Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams weathered the storm. Like Perry, they all live on the Gulf Coast.

Meanwhile, among those commenting on the devastation are Styx: "We send our continued love and prayers for the many people who've been affected by Irma so far. It's been so incredibly inspiring how people have come together to help one another -- many of which they don't know -- gain safe shelter, food and supplies.

"We also deeply appreciate all of you who shared some of your favorite charitable organizations that may fall under the radar. Please take a look at our post from this past Wednesday if you'd like to help any of these organizations!"

The band's bassist Chuck Panozzo lives in the Miami area.

REO Speedwagon's Kevin Cronin has also weighed in: "Our thoughts are once again with our brothers and sisters in Florida, Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, as you deal with the fury of Hurricane Irma.

"We wish you all safety, as we encourage you to stay strong and steadfast, and look to you all for inspiration."
