Homecoming Queen Kicks Game Winner

Winning kick

A high school girl in Pearland, Texas, had a big night last Friday when she was crowned as homecoming queen – and kicked the game-winning field goal for her school’s football team.

The Glenda Dawson High School Eagles were tied with just a few minutes left in the game. They were able to get close to the goal before the clock went to zero – and coach Eric Wells was able to send senior Claire Jeffress onto the field for the winning kick.

Sure enough. It went through and the Eagles were victorious.

Throughout the game, Claire had five chances to kick extra points – and she made all those kicks as well.

Even though Claire was excited to be voted homecoming queen, she said the key to making the six kicks was to block everything out and just focus on her job, which she did perfectly. (Houston Chronicle)
