First Responders Guitar Legends Benefit

Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, former Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora and his guitar-playing girlfriend Orianthi, Heart's Nancy Wilson, Dave Navarro, the legendary Sam Moore, Robert Randolph and others will all come together for a benefit at the end of the month.

They've signed on to perform at Guitar Legends for Heroes, a benefit for the military, veterans and first responders on November 29th at Terminal 5 in New York City. It will be captured for broadcast on Tribune and Sinclair TV stations on December 23rd.

In other military assistance news, Joe Walsh has announced the beneficiaries of his inaugural VetsAidconcert, which took place on September 20th and launched his new charity. $360,000 from that show, which featured Walsh, Zac Brown Band, Keith Urban and Gary Clark Junior, has been distributed to veterans organizations across the country. Among the beneficiaries are:

  • American Military Music
  • Semper K9
  • Suiting Warriors
  • Work Vessels for Vets
  • Children of Fallen Patriots
  • Hire Heroes
  • Stop Soldier Suicide
  • Swords to Plowshares
  • TAPS
  • Warrior Canine Connection

Walsh says, "In my touring I have come across veterans all over this country and have seen these smaller organizations, often run by vets, working in their communities doing a lot of good. One of the main reasons I am launching VetsAid is to not only reward the well-established charity groups doing good works...but also to recognize and support these modest ones who are in the trenches and for whom a little money can go a long way!"

Walsh was only 20 months old when his father died while on active duty on Okinawa, Japan
