British Town Names New Salt Trucks

A British town is rolling out its new fleet of salt-spreading trucks ahead of winter and has announced the names of them, as voted on by the public.

The town of Doncaster asked the public to name the new trucks, but said it would not consider Gritty McGritface or Gary Gritter. Officials were looking for more original names and received a bunch of them, including Spready Mercury, Grit Van Dyke, Walter the Salter and Gritney Houston. But in the end, the town chose David Plowie and Gritsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Anti-Slip Machiney.

They join a fleet that already includes Mr. Plow, The Subzero Hero, Gritney Spears, Brad Grit and Usain Salt. (The Guardian)
