Pat DiNizio, the frontman of veteran New Jersey rock band The Smithereens, has died. He was 62.
The news was announced via the band's Facebook account on Tuesday night. Although the message didn't go until details about his death, only announcing his "passing" "with great sadness," it did say that "Pat was looking forward to getting back on the road and seeing his many fans and friends."
DiNizio's death came after he was recovering from a recent fall.
The singer/guitarist formed The Smithereens in 1980. Not long after, the band scored a series of radio hits, including "A Girl Like You," "Blood and Roses," "Behind the Wall of Sleep" and "Only a Memory." (Deadline)
