David Byrne says he's not interested in a "some kind of nostalgic exercise."
He tells Rolling Stone that's why a Talking Heads reunion doesn't appeal to him. He says he sees "what happens with other people when they do their reunions -- and then it turns into a second reunion and a third reunion...with a lot of them, it just seems like you don't have anything new to say." Though, he says, there is at least one exception.
"With someone like the Pixies, it's different – they're getting the audience now that they deserved ages ago."
Byrne's new solo album, American Utopia, is due out March 9th.
Talk About It:
- He seems to still have things to say on his own, but why couldn't he say them while working with Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz and Jerry Harrison.
