DOOBIE BROTHERS: New Album on the Way

The Doobie Brothers are working on a new songs for a possible album.

Tom Johnston tells The Arizona Republic, "I’d really like to get something out this year. It’ll be eight years now, so I think it’s time to get an album out."

He adds that he and co-founder Patrick Simmons have both written new material. "I haven’t heard all of his stuff and he hasn’t heard all of my stuff. I’d just like to get it all to coalesce and put something out. I think it’s imperative that we do that right now.

"It won’t be the same as the last one and won’t be the same as any other one we’ve done -- but people will still love what we do just because of the sound of the voices."

The Doobies' last studio album was 2010's World Gone Crazy.

They're currently on the road with their next show on Wednesday in Tucson, Arizona. The start their tour with Steely Dan on May 10th in Charlotte, North Carolina.
