Guns n Roses celebrating 30 years with a tour

The clock on Guns n' Roses' GNR.fm website is counting down to midnight Thursday, when an announcement is expected to be coming having to do with celebrating the 30th anniversary of the band's debut album, Appetite for Destruction.

In the meantime, there's new stuff on the site:

  • A world map with numerous dots that suggest a tour...but maybe not. When you look at Japan there seem to be too many there to correspond to a run of live dates. You can zoom in and out of the map until it gets very large. In the city of Los Angeles there are numerous dots, and it's unlikely they'd play that many venues there.
  • An Appetite for Destruction-era song that is not on the album, but was a B-side. Rolling Stone describes "Shadow of Your Love" as "a hyper-charged holdover from Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin's days with hard rockers Hollywood Rose." It also cites an interview with original G n' R drummer Steven Adler in which he says it was the first song the full band ever played. He recalls that "right in the middle...Axl showed up and he grabbed the microphone and was running up and down the walls screaming. ... We knew right then what we had."
  • When you start listening to "Shadow of Your Love" the words "You are now listening. Please visit this website from your mobile device to participate further" appear on top of the map. When you log on from your mobile device, the words "You are now listening. Extend the broadcast by creating your signal and sharing with friends" appear. You can also click a box to extend your signal and to put pictures of a band member on your Facebook or Twitter page.
