The guitar Bob Dylan played on his first electric tour back in 1965 sold for $490,000 on Saturday.
It was owned and sold off by Robbie Robertson, who let Dylan use it regularly in the 1960s and 1970s. The guitar has a rich history, having been used by Dylan on Blonde on Blonde and The Basement Tapes. Robertson played it on The Band’s classic albums Music From Big Pink and The Band.
A portion of the sale will go to the American Indian College Fund.
