The latest Grateful Dead tribute tour by three of the four surviving members kicked off Wednesday in the Boston suburb of Mansfield, Massachusetts.
Dead & Company -- led by Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, with an assist from John Mayer, Allman Brothers Band bassist Oteil Burbridge, and keyboardist Jeff Chimenti -- jammed away on 16 songs over two sets, including two that they never did before -- "Alabama Getaway" and The Valentinos' "It's Al Over Now."
Commenting earlier this month from their Bay Area rehearsal space, Bob Weir described a Dead and Company show:
Unfortunately, the adventure did not include an encore as they jammed themselves right up to the 11 p.m. curfew.
