Here's one from the "nice news" file: actress Kate Murtagh, who posed as the Statue of Liberty-like waitress on the cover of Supertramp's best-known album, Breakfast in America, is now 97 years old. Murtagh is alive and well and is reported to be an active resident of the Motion Picture Country Home in Los Angeles, where she still takes improvisation classes.
Murtagh's resume includes appearance on TV's My Three Sons, The Munsters, I Dream of Jeannie, The Twilight Zoneand Highway to Heaven. She also had roles in the movies Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Night Strangler, Dirty O'Neil, Doctor Detroit and Lost in Time.
Breakfast in America topped the album chart the week of May 19, 1979 and held the top spot for six non-consecutive weeks.
