INXS, GILES MARTIN: Teaming Up

INXS releases

INXS has named British producer Giles Martin as "executive music director" for a variety of upcoming projects related to the band and its legacy.

Martin, the son of the late producer George Martin, is well known for remixing The Beatles for the Cirque du Soleil production Love and for the 50th Anniversary Edition of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Billboard reports that Martin will have creative control on all audio aspects of upcoming INXS releases. That is expected to include "musicals, movies and the reissue of their studio albums, which will be repackaged, remixed and expanded for release."

Talk About It:

  • The band itself remains broken up, so we have to assume this all has to do with its catalog and previously unreleased archival material.
  • Hopefully, Martin will do some interesting sonic things with whatever comes out in the future.
  • Interesting trivia: INXS had seven top 10 singles in the U.S., none of which peaked in the same position. They are:
  1. "Need You Tonight" - number-one
  2. "Devil Inside" - number-two
  3. "New Sensation" - number-three
  4. "What You Need" - number-five
  5. "Never Tear Us Apart" - number-seven
  6. "Disappear" - number-eight
  7. "Suicide Blonde" - number-nine
