YES: Band and Individual Honors

Yes

The London location of the very first show by Yes will be recognized with a historical marker.

The blue plaques are placed by the English Heritage, which links influential historical figures to particular buildings.

Organized by Yes fan and author David Watkinson, a ceremony takes place on August 3rd on the building at 184 Shaftesbury Avenue, which is now the Wildwood Restaurant. It is the former home of The Lucky Horseshoe Cafe, where Yes gave their first performance 50 years to the day -- August 3rd, 1968. The lineup on that date was Jon Anderson on vocals, Chris Squire on bass, Peter Banks on guitar, Bill Bruford on drums and Tony Kayeon keyboards.

In other Yes news, guitarist Steve Howe will be to be honored as Prog God at this year's Progressive Music Awards, September 13th in London.

Previous Prog God honorees include two other Yes family members -- Rick Wakeman and Jon Anderson -- along with Peter Gabriel, Ian Andersonand Genesis keyboardist Tony Banks.
