BECK, RODGERS & WILSON: Three Stars Align Tonight

P. Rogers

One of the more interesting tour combinations to come along in a while hits the road tonight (Wednesday) as Jeff Beck, Paul Rodgers and Ann Wilson begin their Stars Align tour in West Valley City, Utah.

Beck says, "I always enjoy touring the U.S. in the summer, and joining with Paul and Ann Wilson should make for quite an exciting night."

These types of package tours feature each artist doing their most well-known songs, but be forewarned, Beck plans to road test some songs off his next album.

For Rodgers, he will focus primarily on songs from his Free days, which he did last year on tour in England and just released on his new live album, Free Spirit. "We have to bring this to the States," says Rodgers. "We were going to do small theater tour, but it has become much bigger.”

And Ann will be debuting material from an upcoming album, Immortal, a collection of covers by recently deceased musicians such as David Bowie, Tom Petty and Amy Winehouse. “I’m doing several Heart songs," she says, "but no more than three; the ones that have stood the test of time.”

The tour runs through August 26th in Tampa, Florida.

Jeff Beck will be doing select one-off shows along the way, with the first one this Saturday in Phoenix with Nils Lofgren opening with a half-hour acoustic set.
