55 years ago, on July 22nd, 1963, The Beatles' first American album, Introducing the Beatles, was released by the independent Vee Jay label.
It featured the British hit singles "Love Me Do" and "Please Please Me" -- which Capitol had declined to issue in the U.S.. Six months before the start of the British Invasion, the album sold just a handful of copies -- and those later become valued collectibles.
