Doobie Brothers singer and guitarist Patrick Simmons and his wife, Cris, took part in last week’s coast-to-coast Motorcycle Cannonball – a 3700 mile ride from Portland, Maine to Portland, Oregon.
Patrick tells us, "I was able to ride [my Harley] from Portland, Maine to Sturgis, South Dakota for a total of 2044 miles. I rode all the miles, which is a perfect score, according to the way the event is organized. About eight to 10 hours on the road every day. I rode for nine days. Wish I could have finished the ride all the way to Portland, Oregon, but theEagles shows are a priority I’m afraid. Anyway, I had a ball."
Simmons and the Doobies had to head to rehearsals for their two shows opening for the Eagles -- Thursday at AT&T Park in San Francisco, and Saturday at Petco Park in San Diego.
- Simmons is among many artists who are motorcycle enthusiasts, including Neil Peart, Billy Joel, Bob Seger, Billy Idol, Bruce Springsteen, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry.
