DICKEY BETTS: Brain Surgery Was a Success

D. Betts

Dickey Betts underwent surgery this morning (Friday) to relieve swelling on the bran, and his manager, David Spero, tells us it "went perfectly" and a "full recovery is expected.

"The outpouring of support from all over the world has been overwhelming and amazing. We are so appreciative.

"Thank you all so much for your wonderful thoughts and prayers. We will keep you updated."

This past Monday, Betts was playing with his dog in the backyard of his Osprey, Florida home when he fell, and struck and cracked his head, causing bleeding from the brain.

Hospitalized in critical but stable condition, Betts has been forced to cancel his tour in November, which had been rescheduled after he suffered a mild stroke in August.

Betts is 74 and is one of two surviving members of The Allman Brothers Band, along with drummer Jaimoe, also 74.
