PAUL SIMON: Slip Slidin' Away for the Last Time Saturday Night

Paul Simon

In February, Paul Simon announced that this year’s Homeward Bound tour would be his last. After two U.S. legs and a trip to Europe, he brings it to an end Saturday (tomorrow) in Queens, the New York City borough where he grew up.

Simon says, "It seems more like fate than coincidence that I should do the final show on this final tour at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. I could have ridden my bike from home to the park in about 20 minutes when I was a kid."

Simon adds that the Homeward Bound tour isn't the last time he'll perform. "I anticipate doing the occasional performance in a (hopefully) acoustically pristine hall and to donate those earnings to various philanthropic organizations, particularly those whose objective is to save the planet, ecologically."

Simon is donating all his proceeds from Saturday’s show to charity.

Paul Simon reflects on his peak years of the '60s and '70s:

Before heading out to Queens, Simon has two shows at Madison Square Garden -- tonight (Thursday) and Friday.
