With this week's announcement of the nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2019 comes the screams from fans of such arguably qualified acts as:
- Pat Benatar
- Bad Company
- Doobie Brothers
- REO Speedwagon
- Phil Collins
- Jethro Tull
- Joe Cocker
- Jimmy Buffett
But what the general public needs to know is the Rock Hall, like many awards ceremonies, is a political minefield. Just ask Joe ... Joe Walsh, who was inducted with the Eagles in 1998.
In New York this week for shows with the Eagles, TMZ cornered Joe on a Manhattan street and asked him what he thought about the nominees.
After saying the late Link Wray needs to be inducted, he said, "There is a lot of politics in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame... The corporate sponsors get to pick and then the people get to vote. There's a lot of people I don't know why they're in there and there's a lot of people I don't know why they're not."
