JOE PERRY: Hospitalized in New York

Joe Perry is supposed to be in Fort Lauderdale, Florida yeasterday (Sunday) at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp, but instead he is recovering from what a source close to him tells us was a "breathing episode" backstage at New York's Madison Square Garden.

It happened last night (Saturday) after Perry was Billy Joel's guest for a version of "Walk This Way." TMZ reports that he collapsed in his dressing room and paramedics worked on him for 40 minutes, including putting a tracheal tube down his throat to clear the air path, before he was taken to the hospital.

His spokeswoman issued a statement Sunday afternoon ET to say that he "remains in the hospital where he is alert and responsive."

Perry was also supposed to come out for the night's final number -- "You May Be Right" into Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll."

We spoke to Joe late Friday afternoon and he told us about collapsing on stage in Brooklyn, New York in 2016 during a show with the Hollywood Vampires.

Perry was in town Friday to talk about his new single, "Quake," and for Billy's monthly show at Madison Square Garden before he was due to fly right after the show to Fort Lauderdale for the Fantasy Camp.
