A grade school boy in Scarborough, Maine, is doing his part to help his community – and especially firefighters – by adopting a fire hydrant.
Spencer Bradbury has vowed to keep a fire hydrant near his home clear of snow through the winter so firefighters always have access to it.
Spencer – who wants to be a police officer or a firefighter when he grows up – makes sure to shovel out the fire hydrant after every snow storm.
He says it takes about 15 minutes to clear it out, and has even given the hydrant a name – Mr. Shovel.
Because of his dedication and desire to help, Spencer will keep his his eye on the sky and will be ready to jump into action whenever the snow flies. (WGME-TV)
