The Jimi Hendrix: Electric Church documentary is getting a run in movie theaters, starting in New York and L.A. on January 31st and moving into 35 other markets between then and early April.
Already screened on Showtime and released on CD and DVD, the film centers on Hendrix's July 4th, 1970 performance at the second Atlanta International Pop Festival. Three of the screenings will end with discussions.
Director John McDermott, Hendrix engineer and record producer Eddie Kramer, Experience Hendrix CEO Janie Hendrix and original Atlanta Popproducer Steve Rash will be at the January 31st showing at the ArcLight Hollywood in L.A. Janie Hendrix will be at the February 13th screening at SIFF Cinema Uptown in Seattle, and longtime Hendrix bassist Billy Cox will be on hand to discuss the film at the Belcourt Theater in Nashville on February 25th.
