Led Zeppelin now have an official 50th anniversary snowboard. Called the “Misty Mountain Hop,” it’s been designed by winter sports lifestyle company Burton and sells for $750. It comes with a copy of the band’s book, Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin .
David Lee Roth ’s original solo band of guitarist Steve Vai , bassist Billy Sheehan and drummer Gregg Bissonette briefly reunited at last week’s NAMM Show, but without Diamond Dave. They performed Roth’s “Shyboy” with Sons of Apollo singer Jeff Scott Soto .
Michael McDonald , who collaborated with the late James Ingram on the Grammy-winning “Yah Mo B There” in 1983, has commented on the singer’s death Tuesday. McDonald says, “We shared the good stuff of life together over the years [including] the perils of raising children as working parents in the modern age. We’ve had some laughs on that one. My prayers are with [his wife] Debbie and the entire family in the hope that the peace of love eternal prevail in our lives at times like these.”
The Allman Brothers Band -curated Wanee Music Festival has morphed into the Wanee Block Party with a performance by onetime Allmans drummer Jaimoe and his Jasssz Band . It will take place March 22nd and 23rd in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. As previously reported, the Wanee fest was scratched this year because the weekend when it would have been held falls on Good Friday, Easter and Passover.
Heartbreakers Mike Campbell , Steve Ferrone , and Ron Blair joined Jason Sinay to perform a set at the Imperial Ball in Anaheim, CA last weekend in support of breast cancer awareness. The four made up the original lineup of the Heartbreakers side band The Dirty Knobs .
Kansas will start recording a new album in August. Planned for release next year, it will be their first since 2016’s The Prelude Implicit .
Blondie drummer Clem Burke , on tour in England with his side band, visited the student union at the University of Leeds and tweeted a photo of himself standing under the plaque commemorating The Who ’s Live at Leeds , which was recorded there. He called it “very inspiring.”
