Bernie Torme, who played guitar for Ozzy Osbourne for just 10 days after the March 19th, 1982 death of Randy Rhodes, and worked with Ian Gillan of Deep Purple and Dee Snider of Twisted Sister, died Sunday at age 66. Torme had been in the hospital for double pneumonia. Commenting on the loss, Ozzy says, “What a sad day. We’ve lost another great musician. Bernie was a gentle soul with a heart of gold. He will be dearly missed.”Sharon Osbourne adds, “I cannot believe that Bernie Torme has passed. Bernie helped out Ozzy and I at a time of great need and we will never ever forget that. Love and condolences to his family.”
Bill Ward of Black Sabbath will perform at the Ultimate Jam Night tribute to Randy Rhoads tomorrow night (Tuesday) at the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood. The 37th anniversary of Rhoads's death is Tuesday.
