Stevie Nicks Forgets to Thank Music Director

When Stevie Nicks delivered her rambling and unfocused 12-minute speech Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction speech last Friday, she failed to mention her longtime musical director and guitarist, Waddy Wachtel.

So when she met backstage with the press, her longtime publicist, Liz Rosenberg, tapped the moderator on her shoulder and asked her to ask a question about Waddy, which of course meant one less question from the reporters in the room.

Stevie Nicks on her longtime musical director and guitarist Waddy Wachtel:

"Waddy kind of became Lindsey's [Buckingham] and my best like, you know. go to guy. I mean he was so smart and so wise and he had been a studio musician for a long time. And so even in that two or three year period where we worked on Buckingham-Nicks, I had already had it in my head that I was gonna do a solo record someday and that I would hire Waddy Wachtel to come and be my musical director and my lead guitarist."

Apparently, forgetting to thank him weighed so much on her mind that she took to social mediato correct her mistake. She wrote, "I decided to speak from my heart and not from a teleprompter, and in my excitement I forgot to thank one of my best friends since 1971. My partner in crime ... Waddy Wachtel. Waddy, you mean the world to me!"

No word on if she plans to apologize for not thanking Lindsey Buckingham, who paved her way into Fleetwood Mac.

Waddy Wachtel is top session player and a member of Keith Richards' band,The X-Pensive Winos.
