Classic Rock Nuggets: Doobies, Geddy Lee, Patti Smith and more

The Doobie Brothers'Live From the Beacon Theaterwill debut on PBS stations in June. Drawn from last fall’s complete album performances ofToulouse StreetandThe Captain and Meat the New York theater, the special features such songs as “Listen to the Music,” “Rockin’ Down the Highway,” “Long Train Runnin’” and “China Grove.” It will be released in numerous configurations on June 28th.

Geddy Lee of Rush will head to Europe next month to promote his Big Beautiful Book of Bass. He'll do five eventsfrom June 8th in London through June 15th in Hamburg, Germany.

Mad Season-- the supergroup that featured Mike McCready of Pearl Jam and the late Layne Staley of Alice in Chains-- has been posting live videos from the archives. The most recent upload is of "I Don't Know Anything" from Pearl Jam'sSelf-Pollution Radio broadcast in January 1995.

Peter, Paul and Mary at Newport 1963-65 comes to DVD, CD and digital platforms on August 16th. Drawn from several shows the trio performed at the iconic Rhode Island festival, it includes "If I Had a Hammer," "Blowin' in the Wind" and "Puff, the Magic Dragon."

The B-52s,Nick Lowe and Patti Smith will perform at Riot Fest, September 13th through the 15th at Chicago's Douglas Park.
