WOODSTOCK 50: Sadly, This Should Do It

The town of Vernon, New York has, for the fourth time, denied the organizers ofWoodstock 50a permit to stage the three-day festival at the Vernon Downs racetrack on August 16th, 17th and 18th.

Town officials saythe application violated the 120-day deadline and was unsigned. They also state that there was no mention of security, or where the 65,000 expected attendees would stay.

A spokeswoman for the event told us she has "no comment."

Even though festival founder and promoter Michael Lang was able to pull off the original festival in 1969 after losing his original site a month out, to repeat that now will take a miracle.

Scheduled to appear at the festival were Robert Plant, David Crosby, The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Jay-Z, John Fogerty, Dead and Company, Santana, Miley Cyrus and many others.

Perhaps realizing that there's no shot to hold the festival this year, Lang has signed on to appear alongside original Woodstock performer John Sebastian and festival photographer Henry Diltz on August 7th at the Sunset Marquis in Los Angeles for a Woodstock photo exhibit.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) marks the 30th anniversary of the start of Woodstock '94 in Saugerties, New York, where Lang wanted to stage Woodstock in 1969, but was told no by the owner of the property.
