Stones, Mark Knopfler, G N' R, and Other Nuggets

Rolling Stones’69, a book about the band’s tumultuous year, will be published on September 26th.  

The newly released Blu-ray version of the 1983 movie Local Hero has a new interview with Mark Knopfler about his soundtrack for the film.

Guns n' Roses will warm up for their fall tour at the Hollywood Palladium Saturday. Tickets will be available only to fan club members and CitiCard holders. The tour starts September 25th in Charlotte.

Peter Gabriel has digitally released a 60-cut solo rarities compilation titled Flotsam and Jetsam. It’s divided into three eras and features live versions, alternate and extended takes and remixes of many of his best known songs, as well as obscurities and a few previously unreleased songs. 

The Liverpool garden that inspired John Lennon to write “Strawberry Fields Forever” was opened to the public for the first time on Saturday. According to its website, the spot outside a Salvation Army building where the future Beatle played as a kid is now "home to an interactive visitor exhibition, community café, shop, calm garden spaces for spiritual reflection and...a program for young adults with learning disabilities and other barriers to employment."

George Thorogood and the Destroyerswill present a check for more than $100,000 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society before their September 25th show in New York. George and the band have partnered with LLS for the past five years, and he says, “My awareness of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society began years ago, and I am honored to join the LLS family and lend a hand in their fight to cure blood cancers.”

Robby Krieger has released an album of seven unreleased cutsfrom his 1979 band Red Shift.
