John Entwistle Would've Been 75 Today

Who bassist John Entwistle would have turned 75 today -- October 9th.

Born in 1944 in London, he is considered among the best bass players ever, approaching the instrument like a lead guitar.

In addition to playing bass, Entwistle also played the trumpet, french horn and guitar. He was also an artist, having drawn the cover toThe Who By Numbers album, and he loved to go deep-sea fishing.

Entwistle was 57 when he died of a heart attack caused by a cocaine overdose on June 27th, 2002 on the eve of The Who's U.S. tour.

Entwistle shares a birthday with John Lennon,Sean Lennon,Jackson Browne and Sharon Osbourne.

The Who resume their Moving On!tour tonight (Wednesday) in San Francisco.
