THE BAND: Half-Century Album Anniversary

One of rock music's most influential albums,The Band-- also known as "The Brown Album" -- has been remixed and expanded in time for its 50th anniversary.

Today's (Friday's) release in numerous configurations -- including a Super Deluxe two-CD, Blu-ray, two-LP, seven-inch vinyl box set with a hardbound book -- was overseen by guitarist-singer Robbie Robertson, whose goal was to improve the audio fidelity and make the music feel more immersive.

The album containing "Rag Mama Rag," "Up on Cripple Creek," "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" and "King Harvest (Has Surely Come)" now comes with 13 outtakes (six of them previously unreleased), alternate recordings and The Band’s complete set at Woodstock.
