An auction bidder in England got a bargain today (Wednesday) when they purchased an electric guitar with A-list artist signatures for just under $30,000.
Paul McCartney, Pete Townshend, Mark Knopfler, Steve Winwood, Jeff Beck, Tony Iommi, Brian Wilson, Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones, Jeff Lynne and others signed it to benefit Fairport Convention guitarist Jerry Donahue, who suffered a stroke in 2016. The project was organized by Fairport Convention bassistDave Pegg.
In comparison, a Fender Strat signed for charity by Gilmour,McCartney, Clapton,The Rolling Stones,Queen,The Who and many others was, at one time, the most expensive guitar sold at auction ($2.7-million).
