For the past four years, Taunton, Massachusetts, businessman Nelson Cabral has made it his mission to help needy families celebrate the holidays by delivering free Christmas trees to them.
Nelson, who owns a landscaping company, buys 15 to 20 trees and then delivers them -- Santa style -- to the homes of people who would otherwise not be able to afford them.
Nelson is inspired to surprise people in this way because of all the fond memories he has of decorating trees with his family as a child.
And now, because he has a thriving business, he’s able to put smiles on the faces of people who might not otherwise be able to afford a luxury like a live Christmas tree. (Taunton Gazette)
