JIMI HENDRIX: Before He Dropped an M & Y and Added an I

Dagger Records -- the label run by Experience Hendrix, which oversees the Jimi Hendrix estate -- has released recordings made when Jimi was known as Jimmy James and was performing with Curtis Knight and The Lovelights.

Curtis Knight [featuring Jimi Hendrix]: Live At George’s Club 20 1965 & 1966 is available now on CD with the double vinyl LP version coming on April 21st - Record Store Day.

These recordings were made at George’s Club 20 in Hackensack, New Jersey on December 26th, 1965 and January 22nd, 1966 and among the songs performed were Howlin’ Wolf’s “Killing Floor,” Chris Kenner’s “Land of 1000 Dances,” Ray Charles’ “What I Say,” “Mercy Mercy” by Don Covay, and Marvin Gaye's “I’ll Be Doggone.”
