Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joe Walsh, Kinks and More Classic Rock Nuggets

Lynyrd Skynyrd singerJohnny Van Zant says they’re looking to be on the road with their farewell tour through the end of next year, aiming “to hit every place we've ever played and every place we didn't play before we say goodbye.”

Lynyrd Skynyrd apologized for technical issues at some screenings of their concert film,Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour, last week. In a statementt they denied responsibility, writing, “The issues that happened were out of the band’s control and oversight." The film will be released on home video, DVD and Blu-ray in January. 

Joe Walsh was the keynote speaker at Friday’s Red, White and You veterans jobs fair in Houston. He reports that “over 1500 veterans registered and almost 125 businesses were on hand.” His third annual Vets Aid benefit concert was Sunday night at the Toyota Center in Houston. He'll was joined by The Doobie Brothers, ZZ Top and others.

The Who rescheduled the three U.S. dates postponed due to Roger Daltrey’s throat issues. The new dates are April 27th in Dallas; the 30th in Houston, and May 2nd in Denver. Tickets for the original dates will be honored.

The new album by Jeff Lynne's ELO, From Out of Nowhere, has debuted at number-one on the British album chart. It’s ELO’s first chart-topping studio recording there since Time in 1981 and the fourth of the band’s career.

Dave Davies of The Kinks tweeted a list of the five songs that contain his favorite Dave Davies guitar solos: The Kinks’ “You Really Got Me,” the live “Celluloid Heroes” from One for the Road, “Mister Big” (from Sleepwalker) “Perfect Strangers” (UK Jive) and his solo track “Visionary Dreamer.”
