EDGAR WINTER: Working on Tribute Album for His Brother

Edgar Winter is putting together a tribute album to his late brother Johnny. The albino blues-rock guitar great died in 2014.

The 16-song collection will be a mix of Johnny Winter originals and favorite covers, such as Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode,"The Rolling Stones' "Jumpin' Jack Flash" and Rick Derringer's "Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo" -- which Johnny Winter recorded in 1970 three years before Derringer made it a pop hit.

Edgar has already lined up Joe Walsh, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa, Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Bobby Rush for the project.

The albino multi-instrumentalist tellsBillboard that he was "very hesitant to do it at first... But the more time went by and I started thinking about it, I felt like it was something I should do... Johnny's my all-time musical hero. If it weren't for him I wouldn't be where I am now. I just feel like I need to acknowledge that and put out a record he would love."

Expect the still-untitled disc out sometime in 2020.
