Elton John's collab with Brandi Carlile is here!
"Who Believes in Angels?", started with "Never Too Late," their duet from John's 2024 documentary, and continued with new offerings "The Rose of Laura Nyro," "Little Richard's Bible" and the title track "Who Believes in Angels?", as John and Carlile recorded 10 tracks in 20 days.
On the album he is collaborating again with Bernie Taupin and producer Andrew Watt, as they are joined by Chad Smith, Pino Palladino, and Josh Klinghoffer.
In a promotional trailer for the album, John, now 76, explained that he wanted to push boundaries with his music. "I don’t want to coast," he stated, emphasizing his desire for a fresh challenge at this stage of his career. Carlile also shared insights, revealing that the process was challenging but yielded incredible results. Reflecting on the album’s creation, John mentioned in 2023 that it would surprise listeners, filled with youth and vitality after decades of collaboration with Taupin. His longtime friend Pete Townshend also spoke about the album, describing it as one of the best things Elton and Brandi had ever done together.
For Carlile, the album was a deeply meaningful experience. She described it as one of the toughest projects she’d ever worked on, but one that also provided immense growth. She saw it as a radical act in today’s turbulent world, symbolizing joy and triumph. John echoed her sentiments, viewing *Who Believes in Angels?* as a new beginning in his career—a bold step into the future after a rich past. Fans who pre-order the album will have a chance to attend a special concert, "An Evening With Elton John & Brandi Carlile", at the London Palladium on March 26.
