A Zappa Classic Will Finally See The Light Of Day!

The unaired Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention television special from 1974 is finally being aired!

50 years after it was made and long after Zappa's passing, the two-hour concert film and live album, Cheaper Than Cheep, will be available on May 9th in a CD, Blu-ray set and on vinyl!

Zappa invited fans to his rehearsal space in Hollywood on June 21, 1974, to watch them perform, as a crew shot the performance. After the performance, editors found that that the film and sound didn't line up, so Zappa scrapped it, and The Dub Room Special, which was made with PBS aired instead.

The special and album, featured the new lineup of The Mothers of Invention, which included drummer Chester Thompson, keyboardist George Duke, guitarist Jeff Simmons, saxophone and flute player Napoleon Murphy Brock, percussionist Ruth Underwood and bassist Tom Fowler. The band plays many Zappa classics like, "Cosmik Debris," "Montana," "Wowie Zowie" and "Dupree's Paradise."

Cheaper Than Cheep will be available on Zappa's website and can be preordered now!
